Podgorica. The U.S. authorities say Magyar Telekom has bribed Montenegrin politicians to buy Crnogorski Telekom, the Montenegrin daily Vijesti writes on Wednesday.
According to the U.S. authorities the Hungarian telecom company paid EUR 7,35 million in bribes to senior government officials in Podgorica. The sister of one of the Montenegrin leaders is on the list, too. At the time she worked as a lawyer and received EUR 580,000.
The newspaper claims only the sister of the then prime minister Milo Djukanovic, Ana Kolarevic, worked as a lawyer. However, she denied the claims, saying he had nothing to do with the telecom company privatization.
Crnogorski Telekom was privatized in 2005.
